Yerry Mina has been left without a Barcelona exit route after a transfer to Manchester United has collapsed with the Red Devils nearing a move for Toby Alderweireld.
The Colombia international has been in the market for a move away from the La Liga champions all summer after a disappointing time at the club following his midseason arrival.
Mina failed to break into Ernesto Valverde’s plans, playing just five times in the league after his January move from Palmeiras.
Despite a strong World Cup performance that saw him score three goals in Russia, the defender has been pushed further down the Barca depth chart with the arrival of Clement Lenglet.
Perisic Talks EPL Ambition
Ivan Perisic has left the transfer door ajar for Manchester United, with the Inter winger admitting that he would welcome the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Croatia international for some time, with Jose Mourinho first pursuing his signature in the summer of 2017.
The 29-year-old is tied to a long-term contract in Italy and claims to be happy at San Siro, but has also conceded that he would be willing to join another “top club” if a deal suits all concerned
“It is true Inter has not had the results it should have since 2010, there were some problems, bad decisions, but somehow I feel we are on the right way to return to old glory. I heard some clubs want me but they have to talk to my club and only after that could I join the negotiations and decide. If I was to change club, it could only be to a top league and top club. Only God knows what will happen in future, I am happy at Inter but we all know anything is possible in football, ” said the winger who had a stellar World Cup at Russia.
He added, "Honestly, I would like to test myself in all of the biggest leagues but the question is will I have the time, I am 29 and working to extend my career as long as I can. Yes, I'd like to play in England and Spain but I don't know if there is enough time left.”
Di Maria Double Sees Tuche Start with Silverware
Neymar was only needed for a brief cameo as Paris Saint-Germain made a fine competitive start under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel secured his first piece of silverware in charge of Paris Saint-Germain as Angel Di Maria's double helped set an ominous tone for the new season with a 4-0 win over Monaco in the Trophee des Champions.
Di Maria scored once either side of half-time, while Neymar made a 15-minute cameo as the Ligue 1 champions prevailed in the traditional curtain-raiser, played in China, for the sixth successive season.
The result also provided a competitive debut victory, a clean sheet and a valuable confidence boost for Gianluigi Buffon, who endured back-to-back defeats in two International Champions Cup appearances last month.
The Italy icon was rarely worked, with his new boss Tuchel afforded the luxury of introducing Neymar for his first PSG appearance since fracturing a metatarsal in February with a three-goal lead already established.
Di Maria enjoyed the role of star man in a one-sided first half, netting a superb free-kick in the 33rd minute to open a lead that Christopher Nkunku doubled seven minutes later.
The first of what Tuchel will hope is at least a repeat of the quartet of trophies Unai Emery achieved last term was sealed by Timothy Weah in the 67th minute, before Di Maria added stoppage-time gloss ahead of next Sunday's visit from Caen.
Courtois' Agent Calls On Chelsea To Accept Real Madrid Offer
Thibaut Courtois' agent has pleaded with Chelsea to allow the goalkeeper to join Real Madrid this summer.
Chelsea will not resume talks with Real over a deal for the Belgium international, who has one year left on his contract, until they find a suitable replacement, reportedly.
The 26-year-old, who has previously said "all options are open", is said to be valued at £32m by Madrid but Courtois' agent Christophe Henrotay says Chelsea should show some compassion.
"I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid," Henrotay said.
"For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept."
Beckenbauer Takes A Sly Dig at Ozil
Germany great Franz Beckenbauer has weighed in on the debate over the national team’s failure at the World Cup, suggesting that the squad needed to be hungrier in veiled swipes at Mesut Ozil.
Joachim Low’s side crashed out in the group stages in Russia, having suffered shock defeats against Mexico and South Korea.
Ozil was particularly targeted by the media as a reason for the failure, opening up a debate over racism towards the players of foreign-born heritage in the national team and leading him to quit international duty.
Beckenbauer, meanwhile, has claimed that there was a lack of desire from certain players.
"From the outside, I also had the impression that the passion had been somewhat watered down in the four years since the World Cup victory,” he said. “Therefore, a rebuild with hungry, hot players is needed. “The singing of the national anthem also plays a role. Who sings before the game frees himself more than chewing gum.”
